Vanishing Point

This world is simply a transition
Not in the sense that there's anything before or after for the big Ego
No. We're just a random part of molecules meeting and departing
And yet we cling on to the importance of it all
We imagine it to be important
And I don't mind watching the endless ocean for hours
Even though it kinda scares me, but fuck it
A man like me needs to feel that life is tiny and unimportant sometimes
So I can cope with it all a little easier
The big Ego tries to do tricks like that, you see
The biggest ego-trip in the world is to think for a second that you're beyond Ego
To think we're all connected to something bigger than ourselves
So we can keep on looking towards that horizon
Keep on trying to find the vanishing point in our lives

Aren't we all just drifting?
I don't see why we need to pretend like we have directions in our lives
Hold little lies to ourselves and then watch it all fall down once the bubble burst
The only thing giving meaning to anything in our lives is us
We value it, and hold it dear, as if we do not know of the temporal quality it has
The harder you feel about it, the harder you lie about it
Enthusiasm and passion is only the addiction getting the better of you
Aren't we all just drifting?
Going from stage to stage to play out the next act
